Memorial dos Povos Indígenas

                O Memorial dos Povos Indígenas, projetado por Oscar Niemeyer, possui forma espiral que remete a uma maloca dos índios Yanomami.

                O acervo possui 380 peças, representativas de diferentes tribos do Brasil, com exemplares de arte plumária, cerâmica, adornos, instrumentos musicais, dentre outros.

                Além da área livre para exposições, o memorial conta com um pátio central onde são realizadas apresentações de rituais indígenas. Não percam a oportunidade de visitá-lo!

                                                      Memorial to Indigenous Peoples

The Memorial to Indigenous Peoples was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and resembles a round Yanomami Indian hut.

Its collection consists of 380 pieces from different tribes all over Brazil and displays feathers art, pottery, body adornment pieces, musical instruments and so on.

Besides the exhibition area, the memorial has got a great inner central plaza where Indians can perform their rituals. Do not miss your chance to visit this distinctive building!

Exposição de arte popular no Museu Nacional da República

Adorei a exposição "O Brasil na Arte Popular", em cartaz no Museu Nacional da República, aqui em Brasília, até o dia 26 de junho.
A mostra exibe 1.500 obras de 70 artistas diferentes e homenageia o Mestre Vitalino (1909-1963), ícone da arte popular brasileira, que completaria 102 anos no mês de julho.
O público poderá admirar uma enorme e fascinante coleção sobre temas variados: o sincretismo religioso, os diferentes ciclos da vida, as tradicionais brincadeiras de criança  e as festas populares (bumba-meu-boi, maracatu, carnaval, folia de reis), dentre outros. Realmente imperdível!

Brazilian folk art exhibition at the National Museum of the Republic

I really loved the exhibiton entitled "O Brasil na Arte Popular"  which is showing at the National Museum of the Republic, in Brasília, until the 26th of June.
The exhibition displays 1.500 pieces from 70 artists and pays homage to "Mestre Vitalino" (1909-1963), Brazil's best known folk artist, who would become 102 years old in July.
The audience can enjoy an amazing and huge thematic collection focused on subjects like religious syncretism, different cycles of life, traditional children's games and folk traditions (bumba-meu-boi, maracatu, carnaval, folia de reis), among others. An unmissable event indeed!
